Frequantly Asked

  • The world didn’t need another tequila.  Until Don Gato decided it did. We should all be grateful. As a tequila savant, Don Gato worships the land as equally as he does his cats.

Here in his beautiful lowland agave fields, energetic agave plants thrive, growing up fast. Easily influenced by the cool vibes of Don Gato, sunny days and nutrient rich soil, the agave plants pick up the accents of the earth; spicy, herbal, earthy. The agave is crushed by ancient stone tahona wheels but always encouraged by Don Gato through meditation and positive manifestations.

Distillation occurs in gleaning copper pot stills that are kept perfectly polished with the exception of Don Gato’s fingerprints that are left as a reminder that there can be no other. It is truly the tequila mas gato.

  • Don Gato tequila is presently available in the following ten fortunate states:

FL, GA, SC, NC, VA, MS, LA, TX, IL, MI and will soon be available in TN and MD.

You can find some of the specific retail locations and restaurants/bars carrying it by clicking on this link.

If you are smart enough to carry Tequila Don Gato but don’t see your location on our list, please email a photo to IloveDG@dongatotequila.com so we can get you added to the list of Don Gato’s chosen ones.

You may also order Tequila Don Gato online here unless you live in one of the unfortunate states where it’s not sold.  (Sorry but we’re looking at you, amongst others, Connecticut.)

  • Serving

It’s your mouth but Tequila Don Gato is best served neat and at room temperature (around 18–21°C or 64–70°F) to fully experience its nuances. Chilling it can mute its flavors, which is a shame. Because while the legend Don Gato is a man of few words, his tequila has a lot to say.

A rocks glass is the de facto serving chalice for Blanco or Reposado but Don Gato himself prefers to use antique or vintage Wedgwood bone China teacups found at garage sales.  If you decide to use a shot glass, you are just doing it wrong.

    Storing

Please don’t keep Tequila Don Gato in the sunlight for too long. Store it in a cool, dark place to prevent the heat and light from breaking down the flavors. There’s some science involved here but best not to challenge it and just keep it cool for cool times.

  • Tracking is available after purchase through ReserveBar here

  • When it comes to learning and having cool times, the easiest and best way is to become close friends with Don Gato. This is also the hardest way, unless you happen to be a cat.

You can also study the Tequila Saga.  As a lifelong fan of Don Gato, the occasionally well-known actor Danny McBride felt it was his duty to share the Don Gato story with the world. He ventured to Jalisco to document Don Gato’s experiences, embrace his tequila wisdom, absorb his gravitas and ultimately have cool times.

Make sure to follow along by signing up for our email list and following us on the socials for new chapters of the saga that will be coming soon.  This is deep learning.

    5. Wear nothing but Don Gato merch available here.

    6. Never read answers that are just lists.

  • We are working hard to recover old video clips for our archive and retrospective to share the greatness but many of the tapes have suspiciously been lost. Some rumors suggest a coalition of his vanquished and embarrassed opponents could be behind an effort to bury his legacy. Fortunately, someone was able to pull these clips from some VHS tapes that were discovered in the back office of a tire repair shop in Jalisco.
